I don't have invite codes available, but I do have $42 I'm willing to part with. For $3, you can get an invite code and one month's paid time! So that's 14 new accounts.

Also, quick PSA: You're probably better off typing your email address out the long way (spelling out "at" and "dot"), as some have done. Writing your actual email address can leave you vulnerable to spam bots, which are pretty impressive when it comes to finding publicly posted addresses.

I'm going to point people here who don't have DW accounts, if that's okay!

I want an account at Dreamwidth because ~~it's so much prettier than livejournal~~ the privacy options and such are so much better. Also, there's no ads!! *jumps in joy* I love the fact that it doesn't have any ads and is not a site created to gain profit.

I can't say I'll do anything great with my Dreamwidth account because all I'm planning to use it for is for private and personal purposes. At any rate, it's fine if you don't choose me, I was just giving it a go~

I really like the idea of Dreamwidth being free from advertisements (the ads appearing on my livejournal are pissing me off as it's making my whole layout ugly :\.) and its principles of allowing free expression on your account.

On the reasons why I would want a dw account is so that I can have a space of my own to blog in privacy (The privacy options here from what I read are awesome)! At the same time, I would also like to get to know more people with the same interests :D

About what I'm going to do with my dw account, I guess I would use it as a private space for me to rant/reflect? I'm not a photoshop pro nor am I a good writer so I can't really contribute much ><

I want a Dreamwidth account because it is openly accepting of transpeople and has far more community support than LJ, GJ, IJ, etc. The communities on LJ, et al are rather rude to newcomers while the ones here on DW seem to be run by a different person who is nicer to those of us who haven't learnt all the proper terminology.

I have an account on Livejournal, but now I am looking for something new and refreshing. When Livejournal began using ads, I was quite disappointed, and I believe it's not fair to new users who want an account, but do not have the money to afford one (especially since money is tight for many people these days). Dreamwidth, from what I've read, sounds very nice. The privacy is good, and more importantly, the people running the site are very open and more personal with their members, which I believe is a very important relationship to have.

What will I use my Dreamwidth account for? I will use it as a personal journal or a writing journal (I haven't decided yet). I'm also looking forward to meeting new people who share common interests with me, and am hoping some informative and creative communties will be made.

I will try to make Dreamwidth a better place by being active, and voicing my opinions/comments/questions/etc. in the communities that will be created.

Overall, thank you for this opportunity, and even if I'm not chosen, thank you for offering up such a chance for those who may not have a chance otherwise.

I've been unhappy with Livejournal for a while. I don't like the ads, nor do I like the way that they've made the site seem very unfriendly for its users. I want to use Dreamwidth for the same reason that I started an LJ - to post my thoughts, feeling, dreams - and to meet people who share the same. I think one of the best things about a blogging community are the friends that you can make, the similarities you can share, and even the differences you can debate. I don't feel comfortable doing that on LJ anymore.

So far I'm seeing less than 14 comments, so have you not made your choices or have you gifted all of them? I obviously don't need one, but I might be interested in gifting. I just don't want to gift someone who is all set.

After being on LiveJournal for almost 4 years, I feel as if it's changed a lot since I first started.

The fandom communities used to be small, simple and peaceful. As the number of users grew, the amount of community members also grew which slowly took away the tight-knit feeling. Seeing how DW has an invite-only feature, I can safely say that this might discourage troll and spam journals from being created and also attract people who are more serious in joining.

Second, the staff here is very open to user input which was one of the downsides of LiveJournal. I'm looking forward to communicating with a staff that will actually try to fulfill the requests of users.

And finally, I wanted a fresh start. I'm hoping that this smaller population will help me connect with people better and not have to worry about friend-whores and whatnot.

I hope you read this comment and consider purchasing an account for me.

Honestly I've been on LJ for a long time and I've grown to hate the interface. It seems like it's impossible to get anything resolved on there, and I've been told nothing but great things about the fact that dreamwidth is much more personal. I definitely don't like being forced to have a paid account or deal with ads on journals, because I find them very distracting.

I really like the idea of them having invite codes, because it gives the whole style a personal feel. I've used both LJ and GJ, and I have to say that dreamwidth definitely seems to have taken the idea and worked to improve upon it.

I've been on LJ for four years, and it's been my one and only blog so far. It was really nice and shiny (not literally, but figuratively) when I'd first joined. But over time, things changed and things changed; now, it's no longer the LJ that I'd loved quite a bit. It's not just the ads that annoyed me, really--I wasn't too bothered by that, but even the community itself looks to have changed now.

If given an account, I'd have it for personal use: both as a writing journal and a personal journal (I think that it's possible, especially with all the better privacy controls?), as I have been using my LJ all this time.

I don't think that I'll be able to contribute considerably, but one thing's for sure--I'll keep writing and writing and writing. So if writing is a way to contribute, you can bet that I'll be a regular contributor. ^_^

I've never had a journal before, because all the services weren't to my taste. However, now that there's Dreamwidth, I'm really interested in getting one. I want to get to know more friends through communities, be able to post about my thoughts and so on. It's like finally crawling out of my shell or something and I really, really want an account. Why dreamwidth rocks? Because the little rockety people I know here. Everyone is leaving LJland on a shiny new ark called Dreamwidth, only they're not going in pairs, they're going in droves and honestly? I don't want to be stuck, you know, alone and drowing, while everyone else get to play with the new shinies (like the no ads, and sparkley privacy options.. also I heart open source things.)

Will Dreamwidth rock more with me? Of course. I'm made of a special brand of awesomesauce, just ask anyone.. that knows me, and you know, likes me. =)

Dreamwidth is a place to be creative and open up. Livejournal has been bought out, and decided arbitrarily to strikeout accounts that had content they deemed "not suitable". One was a friend that wrote fanfic. Harry Potter, to be precise.

Art should be allowed to grow, and evolve. Words are pictures painted on the mind's canvas - each unique to the viewer's own perception. To be allowed to create in a less stressful environment (ie without advertisement) would be a boon to the creative process.

I like livejournal, don't get me wrong. But in some ways, I feel I have to censor myself, for fears that I will be the detrius of another sweep, because I am different- being polyamorous is away from the mainstream.

Creativity comes in many flavors and colors. I'd like to become part of the creation process here.

Dreamwidth, to me, rocks from what I've seen because it's such an exclusive and smaller community, and from what I've heard, the people are nice. I also like the fact that it's a place for ALL artists, not just the ones who can draw. Being a writer, I've been looking for a place that would motivate me to continue writing, but I've been in a bit of a slump since I can't show it off.

I want a Dreamwidth account because my goal in life is to become a science fiction writer. I would love more than anything to have a place where I can converse with intelligent people about my stories and how I could better myself in the process.

Like I've said, I think it's amazing that Dreamwidth is so exclusive. I think after about a month of "testing" it out myself, and I fall in love with it even more than I have, I would most likely go ahead and subscribe. However, I just don't want to do that until I check out EVERYTHING first, although I'm pretty sure it's not going to be a waste of money.

But back to the exclusiveness of it. It just makes it seem like a community who's more involved with everyone, and I like that. I like that not just ANYONE can join: through the invite codes and the paid accounts, there's been some weeding. And while I'm not trying to insult anyone out there, I just want Dreamwidth to know that I find that amazing. Smaller communities always appealed to me, anyway.

If I was granted a Dreamwidth account, I'd immediately start back up on the novel I was working on, knowing I would have eyes looking upon it. I would also post the random bits of art and poetry I do when the mood strikes me.

Why would Dreamwidth rock with me? Because I'm awesome. But in reality, I don't know if I could do much. However, I would be able to contribute through my writing, and thus, I suppose I might be a bit of laughter and smiles to people who come across my work. =)

Dreamwidth rocks because it looks like you can be creativity without repercussions (strike out anyone?) Besides that, it seems as though everyone is leaving lj land to come on over here. So I'd like to follow. I plan on being an active member.

I would be using my dreamwidth account to post personal journal entries, some private some not so private. Either way I'd be using it to open up about myself. And it would rock more because.. I'm me. ANd just me being here would make it rock. :)
